For this final week of American Idol, the two finalists were asked to perform 3 songs. The songs were picked by Clive Webber who also coached them during their rehearsals. After the two performed, it was clearly visible that Simon Cowell was very much in favor of David Archuleta. In the first round, he told Archuleta that “This round is to Archuleta” and only commented David Cook’s performance as “phenomenal”. The comment Archuleta got on the second round was pretty much the same as what he got in the first round but Simon told David Cook that the song he sang was “ok!”.

At the very start of this season he always become an incumbent peoples favorite and he’s always at the top 3 picks of the judges because of the huge percentage of votes he got from all the viewers. As for David Cook, well, his performance on American Idol for the last 3 weeks was astounding. David Cook is very original and has proven that he’s a very talented singer. He is also famous for his rock star appeal on the show. I must say that he did a job well done on remaking Mariah Carey’s 1995 R&B hit song “Always be my Baby.”

A few weeks before the Finals, David Archuleta’s dad was banned from his American Idol rehearsals because his dad wanted to do 2 cuts on the song he’s going to perform before the finals, making Fox’s Production Company pay double to own the song’s rights. It’s really a bad timing for Archuleta’s dad to be banned from his son’s rehearsals, with the finals approaching.
