Like the song goes, “Some good things never last.” Much as we hate it, life is transitory and fleeting. This week, one or our most beloved iconic screen stars, Paul Newman (1925-2008) died at home due to complications arising from cancer. But his influence and his example, will continue to live on to the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
You may have seen him in films like Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid,with Robert Redford, Cool Hand Luke, The Color Of Money & most recently, the 2002 film Road To Perdition with Tom Hanks.
For the younger generation, he also brought to life the character of Doc Hudson from the Disney-Pixar movie Cars. He and actress Joanne Woodward, is hailed as having one of the most durable Hollywood marriages, having achieved 50 years together. He was also a genuine philanthropist, founding Newman’s Own, a line of food products that donates all proceeds of the sale to charity.
