Born on the 28th of April, 1981, in Pomona California to a family which was more or less linked with military service She was a sickly child and suffered a multitude of illnesses like pneumonia, collapsed lungs, a ruptured appendix and a cyst on her tonsils. She is known to suffer from “Obsessive Compulsive Disorder” during her childhood and she attended the Atlantic Theater Company. She took acting classes at age 12 with her first role in the film “Camp Nowhere” where played a prominent role. She was voted by Askmen.com in 2006 to be one of the most sexiest women in the world taking the top spot in 2007 in FHM Magazine. She had a stint with Playboy which she claimed used her photos as part of their front cover in March 2006. She despised the move citing her religious nature (she’s a Roman Catholic by the way) as she is also more inclined to charity work for many of America’s unfortunate. She is expecting to have her first child in early 2008.

Michael Austin Cera, was born on the 7th of June 1988 in Ontario Canada. His father was a Scillian, and an employee of the Xerox company. He has two sisters. He first appeared in a Summer Camp commercial for Tim Horton. He played the young Chuck Barris in “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind” in 2002 and also did the voice of Brother Bear in the animated series The Bernstein Bears. His interest in the internet drew him to produce short videos which he and a friend worked on together and posted on YouTube. This in turn got the attention of CBS Broadcasting who signed a contract with them to write, direct and produce a series of short films they intended to use as promotional videos in their new InnerTube.com site which they hope would become a challenger for Youtube. He has appeared in a total of 6 films since 2000, with 2 slated for 2008 and 2 again for 2009.

Ahh Yes…Meet MacGyver the uber geek…the idol of engineers, the basis of geeks, a cool but techie, resourceful in a very, Renaissance man -like manner and fashion, he uses his knowledge of science, technology and outdoorsmanship to resolve what are often life or death crises. With nothing but a Swiss Army Knife and a roll of duct tape.

Who is MacGyver

A man who also had an ability to fix things with everyday objects, IMHO the basis of geeks as far as I can tell. Macgyver’s weapon of choice a Victorinox Swiss Army Knife, and your simple everyday duct tape commonly known, to some degree, as “MacGyver-tape”.

MacGyver according to Wikipedia
Angus MacGyver is a highly intelligent, optimistic action hero who prefers non-violent conflict resolution wherever possible. He refuses to carry or use a gun due to a childhood accident with a revolver that resulted in the death of a friend.

–Really, I never knew his name was Angus? Watching Macgyver as a kid, all I can remember that he always introduced himself as Macgyver, “My name is Macgyver”, his friends never called him by his first name, always Macgyver, and that sticked in my mind.

Macgyver according to the Dilbert Principle
MacGyver is in the list of Sexually Irresistable Men in technical professions. Macgyver is part of the geek life, Engineer are like Dilbert and they idolize and tend to be like Macgyver…

–And as Pete (Dana Elcar) would say “His name is MacGyver. He can fix anything. He could fix a computer with a hairpin and a piece of duct tape.”

Impact of Macgyver in Culture

This coined the words :

MacGyverisms — thinking like, being like … who else Macgyver…

to do MacGyver — to do something that Macgyver would do when a situation calls upon you to do the impossible. Fixing something by adapting locally-available parts…

a MacGyver — a person who is knowledgable or skilled at a technical subject…

Now if ever you are in a situation where the world is against you, remain calm, think positively, think geek, think uber-geek, think like MacGyver and always remember the words… WWMD? or What Would Macgyver do?…

MacGyver has 7 seasons.. ohh I wish there was more…

Well, as life goes in the fast lane, they are to blame for their predicaments like Lindsay, Paris, Rihanna and many other young Hollywood starlets who get their worlds turned several times over as the press keeps up with their daily lives. Their initial goal is to garner fame and recognition as some of the hottest talents, never mind the age, ending up getting burned by the same people who shot them to fame. The Pap’s and many other people who provide tips and twitter on their whereabouts where ever they are, they lose all sense of privacy which is part of the price they have to pay for being famous. Why not buy your own island like Mel Gibson so the press can’t get to you, or buy your own jet like John who scoots the world on his own jet taking his family everywhere he goes. Life is harsh and so the more when you are the spotlight.
Many of the young folks in Hollywood use this kind of free publicity to their advantage, well, till it goes too far. From their summer vacations to their everyday drive they try to escape the ever present cameras and video who are on the hunt 24/7. Why don’t they act like simple people so they would be treated as such? Well, fame is a two-edged sword, swing to the left and you get free headlines, to the right and you ge burned!
